The Healthier Version of Ice-cream?

Frozen desserts are always a hit among both adults and children. I mean who wouldn’t want a scoop of something ice-cold to lick on a hot day? But we’ve always been told that ice cream, however delicious and creamy is too much sugar and cream and not healthy. Well, we’re here to discuss the healthier dessert. You might have heard about gelato; how gelato is more air and less cream and ice cream is less air and more cream but this dessert is perhaps on a whole other parallel than the aforementioned two. Dessert Lovers, meet frozen yogurt. Soft serve frozen yogurt might just be the savior you need. Froyo at Jhamsikhel has been around for some time, now giving you an alternative to ice cream with many flavors. What I like about froyo is how flexible is: you can either go with a flavored base or go with a vanilla base and have flavors of your choice. They come in varieties from brownie sundaes, bubble sandwiches, waffle cones, milkshakes, and more. You might just take some time to...

Pet Grooming in Nepal

Your pets deserve all the love and attention they get from you. They deserve to be pampered, cuddled, and given treats. But you know what else they deserve? They deserve to be properly groomed. Pet grooming is fairly new in Nepal. Sure, we had stores that sold pet accessories from dog houses to chew toys and everything but rarely knew a place where your pets could be bathed, cleaned, having their teeth brushed, have their hair cut, have their nails trimmed and more. At Pet Mama, they do it all and they know what pets need. Back then, it felt like there was no need to do so. Pets were given minimal requirements, food and chew toys. Well, now your pets can be treated like the apple of your eye. Pet Mama at Jhamsikhel mothers pets and gives them all the grooming and love that they deserve. Considerably the largest professional pet service in Nepal with doggy bakery, dog training and dog salon, Pet Mama in other words is doggy heaven. Did I mention that Pet Mama makes baked goodsspec...

Ferrero Rocher Cake

So, here’s the deal: it’s no secret that I am a sucker for desserts, always have been, always will be. I might just try a little bit but I will always be tempted. And I know there are many of you out there, like me. So, trying new dessert places is no less than an adventure for me. It comes with its highs and lows, of course. Some days, you hit a gold mine and find a new place to hit you when you feel that sweet tooth taking in. Other days, well, let’s just say you know where not to go. It was no less than an adventure when Laalee mentioned to me that there is a new dessert place at Jhamiskhel-Dhobighar chowk: Lady BonBon. I didn’t think much of it, at first, to be honest. And then, on my next time out, I noticed the place. The name sounded fancy, of course. Needless to say, I was tempted. The first thing I noticed was Lady Bonbon offers no regular pastries. Fruit tarts, lemon meringue tarts, mud cakes, cheesecakes, strawberry shortcakes, and macaroons filled the freezer. I was i...

The Best Movie Experience?

You’d expect a good experience when you go to the movies. No, not only the movie itself, although that is beside the point. But you’d expect good service for the price you pay. You do not want cramped leg space where you must move so you can let people pass, uncomfortable seats, or too much noise in the theatre. You go to the movies for the movie-going experience. You go for that sound system, the chill air, the experience of submerging yourself in a new movie and forgetting about what is going on in your life for some time. Movie theatres have come a long way in Nepal. And they are only getting better. From the noisy people, all that whistle blowing, and uncomfortable cramped seats to more managed theatres with elevated service, people are understanding the value of movie theatre experiences. The first vivid movie experience I remember having is of watching “Kuch Kuch Hota hai” back when I was a kid in Guna Cinemas in the 90s. And now, it is the same Guna Group that has...

Cotton Candy Burrito: A Good Idea?

Take it from a fellow desserts dweller, is there anything as too many sweets? Maybe. But is there a possibility of avoiding new sweets in a new place? Absolutely not. And perhaps this is what drove me to say yes when Aaisha asked me one fine day if I’d like to go to a new place called Loop City? Loop City just introduced Cotton Candy Burritos here in Kathmandu. While somewhat of a thing in other countries, cotton candy burrito is fairly new here. All we see is cotton candy being sold on sticks on the street, but a cotton candy burrito gives you a good amount of cotton candy with scoops of ice cream goodness and all kinds of toppings that you’d like. Yes, they make their own cotton candy. The place is fancy, giving you vibes of cotton candy all over. It literally feels like you’re walking inside a cotton candy with pale pink walls and baby pink furniture. They give you quite a show, making cotton candy right in front of you. The cotton candy burrito is something you’d w...
