You’d expect a good
experience when you go to the movies. No, not only the movie itself, although that
is beside the point. But you’d expect good service for the price you pay. You
do not want cramped leg space where you must move so you can let people pass,
uncomfortable seats, or too much noise in the theatre. You go to the movies for
the movie-going experience. You go for that sound system, the chill air, the
experience of submerging yourself in a new movie and forgetting about what is
going on in your life for some time.
Movie theatres have come
a long way in Nepal. And they are only getting better. From the noisy people,
all that whistle blowing, and uncomfortable cramped seats to more managed
theatres with elevated service, people are understanding the value of movie
theatre experiences. The first vivid movie experience I remember having is of
watching “Kuch Kuch Hota hai” back when I was a kid in Guna Cinemas in the 90s.
And now, it is the same Guna Group that has recently introduced the “Durbar
Cinemax”.
Durbar Cinemas is a new benchmark
for movie experience, I must say. Furnished lavishly, it sets international
standards. Complete with comfortable adjustable recliners and a considerable
distance between two people, it allows you to enjoy a movie at your best. With
enough space for your legs and at your side for your stuff, this definitely
feels like watching a movie at home. The theatre is not so big, with limited
seats but that is what makes it better. It allows you to enjoy the movie
without the crowd and the noise. A food tray at your side where you can place
your snack easily, Durbar Cinemax also offers, and I honestly say this is the
first time I have seen a bar at the theatres, drinks to enjoy during your
movie.
So is it the best movie
experience one can have? A big yes if you’re all in to enjoy a movie at your
own time, in comfort and relaxing away from the world.
