The Art of Doing Nothing

Yeah, no this is not a Kitkat ad. That would be the last thing on my mind right now. But I could very well use a kitkat, of course. We all could. You know why? Because we are all having a break.  Hence, the picture.  Genius, eh?  No,  just me?  Alright.
Regardless, it is true. Life is giving us a break, isn’t it? I mean how many times have you rolled out of bed wishing you could stay home? How many times have you wished you had more time for yourself? How many times have you wished you could give more time to your family? How many times have you wished for a day off to get to the things around yourself? Well, guess what: the universe has finally listened to you. You are getting that time off. You are getting that break. Of course, it is not in the way that we intended. But let’s look at the positive side.
Right now, by staying home, you could save the world. This is probably every introvert’s dream. You can stay home and do nothing and relax because that’s how you’re going to save the world. Who would have thought of that, right? Think of all that consistent busi ness all day long, now you could finally get some time off. And you can feel good about it : not hurrying up, not chiding yourself, not getting anxious of ‘missing out’. Let your body join in this celebration of doing nothing.
Or you could use this time for everything else, except you know going out because that is a no no..
What can you during this break?
·         Work from home, if that is possible in your field

·         Read that book that you’ve been wanting for oh so long!

·         Try some recipes!

·         Meditation and yoga: heal yourself and make your immunity stronger at this time of need

·         Watch those movies and TV shows that you’ve been keeping away for a rainy day check

·         Family Board games because why not?

·         Video call with your friends

·         Home date with your partner ! It’s the best because you don’t even need to dress up

·         Clean up around the house

·         Sew and mend up stuff that you’ve always procrastinated
This being said, don’t forget to take precautions and be safe.

Rajamati

I think we’ve all heard the song of Rajamati growing up. It is so popular that many people in Nepal claim this is the only Newari song that they have heard. The song was written some 200 years back. The first few lines go like this, which I’m sure you must have heard of, unless you’ve been living under a rock: Rājamati kumati, jike wasā pirati Hāya bābā Rājamati-chā Rājamati mabila dhāsā Kāshi wane tela bubā Hayā biu Rājamati-chā. San dhāsā kuli kuli, mikhā dhāsā bālā bālā Sakumi yā mhyāy machā lā Khwā dhāsā tuyu khwā, khwālay niga tee du Tāhā Nani yā Rājamati-chā. It is said to be written by or rather from the perspective of a man who was infatuated and in awe of the beauty of Rajamati. He describes with great admiration: her hair, her eyes, her complexion and the little moles on her face. However it is unknown who the writer of this beautiful song is. The song rushed into popularity after it was played in England in 1850 when Prime Minister Jung Bahadur Rana vi...

Best Places for Breakfast in Kathmandu

The only reason I love sleep, more than the reason that, well, it’s sleep, is that it’s like time travelling to breakfast.  Yeah, no kidding. Breakfast, the most important meal of the day. Whoever named that meal breakfast, was straightforward. I don’t know who named lunch and dinner, but the breakfast guy? He cut in straight to the point, didn’t he? Because breakfast is literally breaking your 8-10 hours fast. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper, they say. So, you don’t really want to compromise on breakfast now, do you? Now, this is no backlashing, but in many restaurants around town, the most breakfast things they have on the menu are omelet and toast. Yeah, I was disappointed too. There’s this restaurant in Mangal Bazar, where my best friend and I met up early morning. We decided to have breakfast. The restaurant overlooks the courtyard so it’s a beautiful place to talk over a cup of coffee or tea. She and I ordered a cheese ...
