To my Bride-To-Be Best Friend

I cannot believe the day is already here! I am ecstatic! You have waited so long for this day; we have waited so long for this day! It’s crazy, how we used to talk so much about this day happening, about finding the one, about how the day would be and now when it finally is, I just wow……it’s just a lot of emotions mixed up! Where do I even start? I cannot wait to see you in that beautiful bridal attire, you’d look so beautiful. I will take so many pictures of you that my gallery will be full of you, just like it always is. I’ll be one of the happiest on that day, I swear, except your significant other of course. *wink* *wink*. I’ll run around doing errands for you, because it’s your day, you’re the queen, you deserve it! I’ll be the one dancing around in my own stupid way. I’ll be the one helping your family in any way I can, because it’s my family too. And at the end of the day, when you actually leave, I’ll be the one silently crying alone. Wow, that got real so fast, didn...

Be Grateful that You get to be You

I was listening to “Another Day in Paradise” by Phil Collins. If you haven’t listened to it, the lyrics go something like this: “Oh think twice, it's another day for you and me in paradise Oh think twice, 'cause it's just another day for you, You and me in paradise, think about it” The song is about this poor woman who has nothing to eat, and nowhere to go and is often overlooked by pedestrians. As the song intended to, it really got me thinking, how we so easily take things for granted in daily life. Sometimes, we are so focused on what we don’t have or what else we need to get to “feel better” that we barely pay attention to what we have. Do we take a moment to be grateful that we get to see one more beautiful sunrise? Or that we get to sleep on full stomachs, that we are warm in bed, that we have basic education? No, we fret about that promotion at work, about that party, about just something all the time. You should be grateful; I know I probably sound l...

One Day in Pokhara

Yeah, I know, I’ll say it before you say what you’re thinking, no need to fret: is one day enough for Pokhara? Yeah it is. Do you know when? When you have a tight ass schedule. Pokhara is the perfect weekend getaway place. This place is never boring. You hear me? I don’t know if it is the all the hustles and bustles, the busy streets, the serenity of the lake or the new restaurants popping up every now and then, there is just something new in Pokhara every time you visit. There is just some other vibes about this place. It always surprises me.  So pack a bag, and head over to Pokhara. You can either grab a flight or an overnight bus trip, whichever suits your timing and your budget well. Sarangkot  If you want to catch the sunrise from this place, which is just something else, you’ll have to wake up super early. But it’s worth it. Peace Stupa The Peace Stupa has been named appropriately. You can either catch a ride up the hill, or walk. If you can catch ...

New Momo Place in Town : Mitho Momo

Okay, so here’s the catch. I was thinking I’d write about the best places for momo in Kathmandu, I was almost set on writing it too, making a list, looking up places and everything. And then, I thought, “Do I really want to create a list of momo places and take the risk of not including places I might not know but are very popular?” Obviously, people prefer different tastes, and more when it comes to momos: the national favorite. Because let’s face it, we could have momos for breakfast, lunch and dinner, if only we could. We’d never get sick of momos; who are we kidding? So, instead of making a list of the best momo places; I’m pretty sure you’ve tried most of them anyway momo maniacs, why not introduce people to a new momo place? Mitho Momo has recently opened in Naya Bazar street right beside Sasa Banquet. And the name mitho justifies it. Within only a few months of its opening, it has managed to attract flocks of people from all around. They are only adding to their me...
