What should a Girl wear?

I’ve been there; you’ve been there; who are we kidding? We’ve all been there. Those side glances, that look, those whispers, we know what they mean, don’t we? They mean: look at her: what is she even wearing? If you’ve been brought up in a judgmental society like ours, you’re bound to turn a few heads when you dress, as they deem ‘inappropriately’. These looks come from both genders. From females for “would you just look at her!” and for males again: “would you just look at her”, the tones of both statements are different of course and so is the intended purpose. I never realized that it was the people’s perception rather than the way women dress in our nation, until I visited China, and I noticed nobody gave a second glance at you no matter what you were wearing. It compelled me to think, just how much pressure we were going through intentionally or unintentionally.  Should a girl not wear whatever she wants? Should she take the pressure? The looks? The shifty ey...

One Day in Panauti

The luscious greens of Panauti are more than inviting and you’d lose yourself in the history and the green that Panauti is, once you get there. Panauti is 32km from Kathmandu. The drive is estimated to be 2 hours from here. Panauti is a UNESCO town and a living museum with 40 ancient temples & 28 festivals. One of the oldest towns in Nepal, Panauti offers a poignant look at the passage of time. To say that you would feel like you have literally travelled back decades would be an understatement. From the crowded bus stand in the sprawling concrete mess of the new town, you slip down a brick street into the Old Bazaar, the remains of an ordered and prosperous medieval city that would have been a wonder to behold in its heyday. Very few people know that before Panauti, this historic town was actually called Palaati. In Newari language, ‘Pa’ mean bamboo, ‘La’ means a rock and ‘Ti’ means a place of pilgrimage. Hence, “Palati” which through the wear and tear of the ages event...

A Magic Story

So a few days ago, I put out this post on my social media for people to submit in their short stories: the theme magic or anything that made them believe in the extraordinary. I promised at the bottom of the post, if I found the story convincing enough, I’d publish it on my blog, with credit, of course. Interestingly, only a few days later, I received a message. “Hi, I’d like to share my story. I saw your post. However, please know that this is a fake account and I have no intention of letting you know my real name, whatsoever.” I was baffled. I read the story he/she wanted to share. And I could not help but post it here. Now, while I love me some spooky stories and some horror movies, it is not that I had the motive of going with this theme. I just had to share it. And it is a magical story indeed; black magic, but magic nonetheless. I will leave the rest for you to figure out. ____________________________________________________________________________...

Timekeeping

I’m not sure if it’s just me, but this connected with me so well. It must connect with you too. We are always on constant “watch” for time. See what I did there? Okay, maybe I am getting ahead of myself. I used to play this game called Pirate Kings a few years ago, to be honest I was kind of addicted to it. If you’re on my Facebook you must know, because I used to send out many many invitations. Yeah, I know, I’m sorry. Anyway, that game Pirate Kings is similar to what I feel, maybe what we all feel as life goes on. You get 50 spins in Pirate Kings: with that 50 spins you can either win cash, attack someone, get another chance to safeguard your island, whatever it lands upon. You get the idea, right? The thing was: as we leveled up in the game, so did the difficulties. You got more stuff to decorate your island, which were way more expensive than in the initial rounds.   But you still got 50 spins, still got to win the same amount of cash and the same attack round an...
